CMAS AGM and Scientific Meeting 2010 - Dundee
University of Dundee, Monday 29th and Tuesday 30th March
The 9th Annual Meeting of CMAS took place at the University of Dundee, hosted by the Institute of Motion Analysis and Research (IMAR). As in previous years, CMAS hosted a scientific programme and an exciting industry exhibition in conjunction with user group activities.
The theme for the meeting was Discovery of Hidden Aspects of Motion Analysis.

CMAS AGM and Scientific Meeting 2009 - Edinburgh
Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, Monday 30th and Tuesday 31st March

The 8th Annual Meeting of CMAS took place at the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh. As in previous years, CMAS hosted a scientific programme and an exciting industry exhibition in conjunction with user group activities.
The two themes for the meeting were Muscle Characteristics in CP, and Future Directions for Motion Analysis.

CMAS AGM and Scientific Meeting 2008 - Salford
University of Salford, Monday 17th and Tuesday 18th March
The seventh Annual Meeting of the Clinical Movement Analysis Society of UK and Ireland was held at the Mary Seacole Building, University of Salford. The meeting was preceded by user group meetings and demonstrations from exhibitors.
On the Monday during the Vicon User group, a live demonstration of the Oxford Foot model was given, along with practical tips and advise. This was followed by a “how to” session presented by Elaine Owen on tuning AFOs with video vector. The evening meal was held at the “Theatre of Dreams”, where if you stared at the pitch for long enough you could just about make out Rio score a goal…
The dual themes of the meeting included motion analysis of the foot, along with orthosis tuning in clinical practice. Tahir Khan (Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon from Manchester) gave a key-note address on foot anatomy and movement during gait, while Chris Nestor complimented this with an interesting overview of cadaveric and in-vivo research on motion of the foot bones. Elaine Owen followed up her practical session from the previous day with a talk on shank kinematics and AFO tuning. Several free papers rounded off the scientific component to the day.

CMAS AGM and Scientific Meeting 2007 - Birmingham
The Conservatoire, Birmingham, Monday 2nd and Tuesday 3rd April
The meeting this year was organised by the West Midlands Rehabilitation Centre and held in the Birmingham Conservatoire. The meeting was well suported with trade stands from Biometrics, Biosense, Coda, Cranlea, Kistler, Novel, Qualisys and VICON. In addition to our normal programme, there was a satellite session on the Rehabilitation of Hemiparetic Gait and Posture running on the morning of Monday 2nd April at Birmingham University.
The Reception and Dinner was held at the Jurys Inn, 245 Broad Street, Birmingham on the Monday evening.
The main meeting was held on the Tuesday, with a good mix of keynotes talks and free paper sessions. The CMAS AGM guest speaker was Mr Tim Theologis, who gave an interesting review on The Opportunities and Threats for Gait Analysis in the Future. The meeting closed with a fascinating debate on There is a place for private portable gait analysis systems in clinical and sporting settings, with the motion being supported by Dr James Shippen and opposed by Dr Adam Shortland.
CMAS AGM and Scientific Meeting 2006 - Newcastle
The 5th annual meeting of the Clinical Movement Analysis Society (CMAS) was hosted by GAiN (Gait Analysis in the North) in Newcastle upon Tyne.

CMAS AGM and Scientific Meeting 2005 - Oxford
The 4th annual meeting of the Clinical Movement Analysis Society (CMAS) took place in Oxford on 13th and 14th March in St Anne’s college.
Registration with welcome drinks took place on Sunday evening followed by user groups meetings and product demonstrations from Coda, Vicon and Bodycare. This was followed by a very good buffet supper.
Monday saw the bulk of the meeting, starting with a session giving an overview of evidence, audit and outcome in gait. Prof. John O’Connor gave the keynote speech on the role of ligaments in gait. Mike Benson, President of the British Orthopaedic Association initiated and chaired an infomal talk on options of accreditation – a topic the standards working group are currently concerned with. Sue Hill the Chief Scientific Officer was unforntunately ill and unable to talk on the multi-disciplinary team in the NHS.

The day was rounded off with a debate and case study on the role of botulinum toxin in managing cerebral palsy gait.
CMAS AGM and Scientific Meeting 2004 - Sheffield
The 3rd Annual meeting of the Clinical Movement Analysis Society (CMAS) was held in Sheffield on 1st March 2004.
The event was organised by Mr Dominic Lloyd-Lucas, Bio-Engineer from the Medical Physics Department at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital. Held at the Rutland Hotel, it attracted an excellent turnout of over seventy delegates (including Surgeons, Paediatricians, Physiotherapists, Bio-Engineers, Clinical Scientists and researchers) from across the UK and Ireland.
CMAS members were treated to a highly informative and interesting Keynote Lecture on the “Neurological Basis of Gait Deficits in Cerebral Palsy” presented with great enthusiasm by Dr Michael Smith, Consultant Paediatrician, Sheffield Children’s Hospital NHS Trust & Consultant Neonatologist, Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. Mr John Patrick, Chairman of the Society awarded the CMAS commemorative plaque to Dr Smith at the completion of his talk. The day also included discussions relating to a case study reviewed by two UK Gait Laboratories, and presentations on the reliability of gait analysis data. The AGM addressed the implications of Agenda for Change for CMAS members and included proposals for clinical and technical standards in Clinical Gait Analysis.
