CMAS Response to COVID-19

Dear CMAS members,

As we  adjust to the ever changing new normal of life, I wanted to contact the CMAS community to update you on our plan on how we’re going to address  the COVID-19 pandemic from a clinical movement analysis perspective.

As you are all aware, the London 2020 AGM & Scientific meeting, which was due to start today, was cancelled in March. This was to minimise the financial impact on the society which was successfully achieved. My understanding is that anyone that had already purchased a ticket and arranged travel/accommodation has received their money back either from CMAS or the companies directly.  If this is not the case, please email me and let me know ([email protected]).

Since cancelling the London 2020 AGM & Scientific  Meeting, life changed dramatically and it become apparent the majority of clinical services supplied by the labs across the UK and Ireland are not required during a viral pandemic and that staff were being redeployed within the NHS and other clinical  services. So, with this in mind, the CMAS Standards and Main Committees have decided to suspend all activity regarding audit, certification and any other CMAS related business until it becomes clear when we are able to work in our jobs and travel again. As all CMAS membership is due to expire today, it has also been decided that it is not necessary to renew this until the society is fully functional again and that your membership is still valid.

The CMAS committee members are hoping  that the regular October meeting in Birmingham will be possible to arrange and will be a combined Standards meeting and AGM. It will also be a great excuse for simply  getting  together and sharing our experiences during these months. We will keep you updated with the details of this planned event.

In the meantime, as CMAS members, please feel free to keep connected with other labs using the CMAS Microsoft Team facility. Drop an email to Colm Daly( [email protected]) and he will organise the login details for you.

Best wishes,

Roisin Delaney

Chair CMAS (on behalf of the CMAS Standards and Main committees)
