CMAS Standards Meeting 2015

CMAS members only

The CMAS Standards Mid-Year Meeting was held at Birmingham Airport on October 31st.

22 CMAS members attended the meeting to discuss a range of standards related issues, including repeatability, document control and the sharing and comparison of normative databases. There was also a presentation by Professor Anthony Redmond, Head of Clinical Biomechanics at Leeds University, on the use of the Foot Posture Index.

There was a general consensus that the sharing of normative and repeatability data would be advantageous. An amendment to the standards was suggested requiring accredited laboratories to submit normal and repeatability data centrally and this will be presented for voting into the 2015 version.

Other amendments likely to be proposed include relaxing repeatability testing requirements for established staff to 2 years, as well as extending the external audit cycle to 2 years for laboratories with robust track records of internal auditing and addressing non-conformances.

Presentations from the meeting are available from: Consensus files (You will be asked to log into the ‘Members Only Area’ to access these files).

The standards committee is also looking for a new member, as Mark Corbett will complete his term shortly. If you are interested in joining the standards committee, or know of someone else who may be, then please contact either Mark Corbett or Damien Kiernan.
